A 19-year-old girl who was shot and snatched as she sat in her boyfriend’s car is at the centre of a massive police manhunt in California.

Andrea Vasquez has not been seen since she disappeared after a terrifying gun attack at a car park on 20th August.

Her boyfriend – not named by police in Whittier – fled the attack.

When he returned, Andrea was missing and there were bloodstains on the tarmac.

Andrea’s family has tracked her phone to nearby Moreno Valley, but an extensive police search has found no trace of her.

Her devastated mum, Anna, told local media: “It’s a pain nobody deserves. She was my everything.”

Andrea’s older sister, Edlyn, added: “It’s hard to get rest, it just feels guilty to even sleep. She’s a homebody. She was my best friend.”

The pair are so close that Andrea has her sister’s name tattooed on the back of her neck.

Edlyn told how she raised the alarm when she found the neighbourhood her sister’s phone was in.

She said: “When I got to that spot, that night, police were called. They had drones, they had canines, they had a lot of people searching that area.

“But, we don’t really know much more.”

Another relative, Emily Martinez, told local media: “We’re scared for her, but I’m hopeful, very hopeful that we’ll find her.

“We just want to know she’s OK.”

Whittier Police Department said in a statement obtained by CEN: “We are investigating a reported shooting and kidnapping incident that took place shortly after midnight on 8/20/23 in the parking stalls area of Penn Park located at 13950 Penn Street in Whittier.

“An adult male witness reported that while at the park with an adult female companion, an armed suspect approached their vehicle and fired a weapon in their direction.

“The male witness ran from the location and upon his return, discovered blood near his vehicle and his female companion was missing.

“Detectives are actively working this investigation and following up on all leads.

“The missing adult female has been identified as Andrea Vazquez, 19 years of age, a resident of Los Angeles County.

“She is described as a female Hispanic, 5′-3”, 103 lbs., brownish red hair and brown eyes.

“She was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve crop top, khaki pants, and black low-top Converse shoes.

“She has a tattoo of ‘Edlyn’ on the back of the neck, Aries constellation the top of her right hand and a belly button piercing.”
