Houston Police Sergeant Recovering After Shootout with Suspect

In the aftermath of a deadly shootout over the weekend, Sergeant Mauricio Valle of the Houston Police Department is now recovering at home after being released from the hospital on the 6th of December.

The incident occurred on the 2nd of December when Sgt. Valle, investigating a suspect linked to multiple burglaries and a potential aggravated assault, confronted the individual around 1 a.m. near the 6900 block of Harwin Drive. Gunfire ensued, resulting in the suspect’s demise and Sgt. Valle sustained injuries to his arm, leg, and side. Remarkably, his tactical vest is credited with saving his life.

Chief Finner expressed gratitude to the Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center staff and the supportive community. Sgt. Valle, in good spirits, looks forward to resuming his duty of safeguarding the citizens of Houston.
