 Fort Lauderdale Trio’s Daring Car Theft Ends in Dramatic Arrest in Indian River County

Three individuals hailing from Fort Lauderdale were apprehended by deputies after allegedly stealing a car, an incident captured by license plate recognition (LPR) cameras on the 28 of November.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) detected a stolen BMW SUV on State Road 60 through LPR cameras. Instant notifications alerted deputies, who swiftly responded to the area.

The IRCSO helicopter, patrolling the vicinity, located the stolen SUV at Nino’s Corner at 43rd Avenue and State Road 60. Two individuals were observed exiting the vehicle, attempting to enter nearby parked cars.

Within moments, multiple deputies arrived, successfully apprehending all suspects. Eighteen-year-old Uriber Gonzalez-Lopez faces charges including grand theft auto, travel to commit a felony outside the county of residence, auto burglary, and resisting arrest without violence. His bond is set at $185,000.

Jack Darlington, aged twenty, is charged with grand theft auto, travel to commit a felony outside the county of residence, and auto burglary, with bail set at $150,000. A 17-year-old, facing multiple charges, was also taken into custody.
