A lawyer has been arrested after reportedly destroying evidence by deleting child pornography images from her client’s mobile phone.

Criminal defence attorney Jocelyn Mims was indicted by the Grand Jury on charges of tampering with evidence, false reports to officers and intentionally failing to report child sex abuse on 8th November.
Mims was hired by her client, who has not been named but who is facing several felony charges, in 2021.
Hendersonville Police in the US state of Tennessee said they had discovered that Mims had destroyed evidence by finding and deleting the child pornography images from her client’s mobile phone.
Mims received her license in 2004 after attending Vanderbilt Law School.
But she was previously banned from the profession after trying to smuggle drugs to a client in the Gallatin jail in 2008, according to local media.
Reports said that Mims was caught trying to smuggle the drugs to an inmate whom she was having an affair with.
But the Board of Professional Responsibility approved that Mims be reinstated as an attorney in June, 2017.
Mims is kept in the Sumner County Jail with a USD 80,000 (GBP 65,102) bond.
She is scheduled to appear in Criminal Court on 17th November.
