A lotto fan who won a brand new truck worth USD 81,000 on a special scratchcard has told how she was so convinced she might have got it wrong she kept checking her ticket.
Incredulous Jamie Ferguson, from Pocahontas, Iowa, USA, had bought the single USD 2 (GBP 1.6) ‘Truck$ & Buck$’ ticket but never thought she’d win.
So when she scratched off the panels before dinner and saw she had won, she barely slept a wink worrying about the ticket.
She explained: “After that, I couldn’t eat because I was too nervous.
“I couldn’t sleep all night long, I just kept getting up to make sure it was still there.”
Jamie, who’d been visiting Lincoln, Nebraska, handed in her ticket on 27th September and drove off with a new Ford F-150 XLT 4×4 Crew Cab Flex Fuel truck.
Earlier she’d been so anxious she locked the ticket in a hotel room safe and put three alarm calls on her mobile phone to remind her not to leave it behind.
Even after collecting the pick-up, Jamie said: “I checked my purse like four times on the way down here. It feels good to finally have the truck.”
Nebraska Lottery representatives said: “The 28th edition of the Nebraska Lottery’s popular USD 2 [GBP 1.6] Truck$ & Buck$ Scratch game features the 2023 Ford F-150 XLT 4×4 SuperCrew Flex Fuel truck as its top prize.
“Players have the opportunity to win one of eight Ford F-150 trucks as well as cash and Ethanol-enriched fuel prizes.
“The truck prize is valued at USD 81,000 [GBP 66,150], which includes USD 1,160 [GBP 947] for costs associated with ownership and state and federal withholding paid by the Nebraska Lottery of USD 4,050 [GBP 3,306] and USD 19,400 [GBP 15,838], respectively.
“The odds of winning the top prize in Truck$ & Buck$ are 1 in 336,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.69.”
