A lucky woman in the USA has scooped the jackpot on the lottery after she decided to invest an earlier USD 100 win instead of collecting it.
Tammie Pelton from the city of Cheboygan, Michigan State, USA, matched numbers 6, 11, 24, 29, and 35, to win a fantastic USD 169,674 (GBP 139,022) on 23rd September.
The 52-year-old woman said the win followed after she decided to buy an online ticket for the Fantasy 5 drawing when she won USD 100 (GBP 82) on a different game.
She said in a statement obtained by Newsflash from Michigan Lottery: “I played the Daily Spin to Win game and won a bonus credit, so I used the bonus credit to play a game online and won USD 100 [GBP 82].
“I used some of my winnings to purchase Powerball tickets and then saw the Fantasy 5 jackpot was over USD 150,000 [GBP 122,902], so I purchased a few Fantasy 5 tickets too.
“When I logged in to my account a few days later, a pop-up came up saying I’d won a USD 169,674 [GBP 139,022] Fantasy 5 jackpot prize.
“I had to triple-check my account balance to make sure I wasn’t seeing things! I woke up my husband and showed him the message.
“He was confused and asked who won, so I yelled: ‘We did!’ We are still having a hard time believing this is real.”
The lucky woman collected her prize upon visiting lottery headquarters on Thursday, 5th October.
She said she plans to use the money to take a trip and invest the remainder.
Michigan Lottery representatives said: “The free Daily Spin to Win game gives players the opportunity to spin a prize wheel each day that they log in to their Lottery account.
“Players can earn bonus credit, retail free play, or entries into a monthly USD 5,000 [GBP 4,098] giveaway.
“Each Fantasy 5 play is only USD 1 [GBP 0.8]. For an additional USD 1 [GBP 0.8] per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to USD 500 [GBP 409] instantly.
“For an additional USD 1 [GBP 0.8] per play, Double Play may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to USD 110,000 [GBP 90,164] in the nightly Double Play drawing.
“Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at USD 100,000 [GBP 81,967].
