Pilot Rescued After Small Plane Crashes At Sea

Florida deputies rushed to a pilot’s rescue after he suddenly lost control of his plane and crashed at sea.

The pilot, identified as 40-year-old Adam Joseph Barney, was rescued about three miles off-coast the island of Sawyer Key on 13th August.

Officers with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded and with the help of the US Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission they were able to safely pull the pilot out of the water.

Fortunately, there were no life-threatening injuries reported.

Deputy Trevor Pike transported Barney to waiting paramedics at Venture Out Resort on Cudjoe Key.

Police said the sunken aircraft was an Aero Commander 500. Federal aviation authorities will be investigating the crash.
