A lotto fan scooped a USD 200,000 win after he remembered his mother’s advice that an itchy left palm means you’re coming into money.

Loyal son Donald Pittman – from the town of Newport, North Carolina State, USA – followed her tip to the letter.

And after snapping up a USD 5 (GBP 4) ticket he could barely believe it when her prediction came true.

Donald said in a statement obtained by Newsflash from North Carolina Education Lottery: “Mama is always right, isn’t she?”

He added: “I was heading in to work and originally wasn’t going to stop for a ticket but my hand started itching so I put it in my pocket.

“My mom used to always say if your hand is itching to put it in your pocket and money is going to come to you.

“When she saw the amount, her eyes bulged out of her head.”

His astonishing win followed came from a Ruby Red 7’s ticket from his local Waves Mart & Grill.

Donald then took a snap of the winning ticket and sent it to his wife.

He said: “She sent back question marks. I told her to look at the number and then the texting was over and it was a phone call.”

Donald collected his prize at the lottery headquarters on Thursday, 29th June and headed home with USD 142,501 (GBP 112,527) after federal and state taxes.

He said he will treat himself with a new dirt bike, and save the rest of the money.

North Carolina Education Lottery officials said: “Ruby Red 7’s debuted in December with six USD 200,000 [GBP 157,638] prizes.

“Since Pittman won the last top prize, the lottery will begin the process of ending the game.”
