An amazed lotto fan has told how he scooped a USD 350,000 jackpot after letting a computer pick his numbers.
USA has hit the lottery jackpot after a computer’s random selection of numbers helped him match the winning combination.
Winner Kevin Clements – from the city of Fredericksburg, Virginia State, USA – usually picks the numbers himself.
Instead, he let the lotto’s lucky dip system choose the numbers and was astonished when he realised he was a winner.
Lotto officials say he bought the winning ticket at the town’s Wawa convenience store last month.
And they won him a jackpot worth USD351,694 (GBP 280,000) in the Virginia Lottery’s Cash 5 with EZ Match ticket on Monday, 15th May.
Kevin collected his prize at lottery headquarters in Richmond three days later.
Virginia Lottery officials said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “Cash 5 with EZ Match features a rolling jackpot, starting at a minimum of USD 100,000 [GBP 79,595].
“The odds of matching all five numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 749,398.
“All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in Virginia. Mr. Clements lives in Spotsylvania County, which received almost USD 16.2 million [GBP 12.9 million] in Lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year.
“In Fiscal Year 2022, the Lottery raised more than USD 779 million [GBP 620 million] for K-12 education, making up approximately 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.”
