The tiny turtle was reportedly struggling to find its way around on Foothills Parkway, in the city of Boulder, Colorado State, USA, when a woman in a red SUV spotted it on Thursday, 6th July.
But as she pulled over to help, she saw traffic officer Coon stopping his motorbike behind her and thanking her before he approached the little reptile.
Video footage shared by the department shows Coon lifting the small animal in his palms and carefully placing it on a road verge as it tries to break out of his grasp thinking it was about to be eaten.
After having released the turtle to safety, Coon then dusts his hands off after the successful rescue mission.
Boulder Police Department said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “Yesterday we talked about speeding, which you should not do because it’s dangerous for everyone around you as well as yourself.
“Today we’re going to talk about turtle speed. But, like, actual turtle speed.”
The department continued: “We’re thankful he was able to help, and share this moment of your time to politely remind everyone to drive responsibly, watch out for wildlife and pay attention to what’s going on around you.
“We’ll be here if you need us.”
