A woman who was watching over an acquaintance’s baby has been accused of bashing his tiny head against a crib and a wall, causing brain bleeds and seizures, as well as a fractured neck, in what cops described as a near-fatal attack.

Accused Adrian Nichole Vetter, 22, was arrested for beating the baby boy in Wichita Falls, in the US state of Texas, on Friday, 9th June.

The police say that the baby has been left suffering seizures and other injuries, including brain bleeds, after the vicious attack, which allegedly took place on 5th June.

The police began investigating after the 10-month-old baby boy, who has not been named, was at first taken to the United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, where medics found that he was suffering from two brain bleeds.

The tot was then transferred to the Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth.

Vetter told investigators that he had a seizure while watching television in the living room of her home, causing him to hit his head on the floor.

But a doctor told investigators that the injuries the baby suffered were consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome.

Dr Elizabeth Peeler also told police that the baby’s injuries were due to severe head trauma.

Detectives then spoke to the child’s mother, who said that Vetter had a temper, but she had never seen her attack children.

She did, however, say that she had seen the woman attack her own dogs.

The mum said that Vetter had been watching her baby for the past two weeks.

Investigators then spoke to the accused again and this time she allegedly told them that on 5th June, at around 3pm, she lost her temper after arguing with her partner on the phone over the cancellation of their wedding and hit the baby’s head on the side rail of the crib.

She also allegedly said that when the victim continued to cry, she took him out of the room and hit his head against a wall.

Vetter allegedly said that the baby boy was gasping for air after hitting its head and that she sat him down before returning a while later and finding him unconscious and not breathing.

She then called the police.

The baby’s mother, Felicity Dishman, has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to pay for her baby’s medical expenses.

She said: “Hi, my name is Felicity I put my son sj in daycare so that I could start working again after I had him. Unfortunately something horrible happened while he was there.

“He was care flighted to cooks in Fort Worth for 2 brain bleeds, shaken baby syndrome, a fractured neck and countless seizures. I’m asking for help with all of this, and continuing prayers for my baby boy we need a miracle.

“He is 10 months old, anything will help. I feel very helpless in all of this but we will get justice for my baby boy.” (sic)

At the time of writing, the fundraising campaign had raised USD 10,240 out of a USD 20,000 target.

Vetter is being held at the local jail on a USD 1 million (GBP 795,000) bond for offences including injury to a child, according to police records.
