A lucky dad of ten and grandpa of 12 has scooped a USD 50,000 lotto jackpot after playing a hunch on a single USD 1 ticket.
Retired Longshoreman and Domino Sugar refinery employee from the city of Windsor Mill, Maryland State, USA, said he felt inspired to play numbers 9, 0, 9, 9, and 0 for Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 drawing on Sunday, 11th June.
The 76-year-old man who went by the nickname ‘Bubba’ reportedly bought the USD 1 (GBP 0.8) Pick 5 ticket at the Ingleside Food Mart in the area of Catonsville earlier that day.
And after arriving home and handing over the tickets to his wife, both of them ended up in shock when they realised they had just pocketed USD 50,000 (GBP 39,094).
Claiming that they often play lottery together ‘Bubba’ said in a statement obtained by Newsflash from Maryland Lottery: “The numbers came straight to me.
“This is the biggest prize I’ve ever had.”
At lottery headquarters in the city of Baltimore the 76-year-old came accompanied by his daughter, and said: “I was really surprised.”
‘Bubba’ revealed that he will split the prize with his wife, and use the rest for home improvements, in addition to buying gifts for his grandchildren and a new car.
Maryland Lottery officials added: “Also enjoying ‘Bubba’s’ lucky experience is his Baltimore County Lottery retailer.
“Ingleside Food Mart located at 1022 Ingleside Avenue in Catonsville will receive a USD 500 [GBP 391] bonus from the Lottery for selling a USD 50,000-winning [GBP 39,094] ticket in the game.”
