Jacob Randall Robison, 23, was arrested in the car park of a Dollar General store in Crawfordville, in Wakulla County, in the US state of Florida, on Thursday, 13th July.

Police responded to the scene after the child victim’s mother, named only as Skyler, called them and said that her daughter was not breathing and was turning blue.

The baby girl, who has not been named, was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead, with doctors saying it was “the worst case they’d ever seen”, according to local media.

Investigators at the hospital reportedly said that the young girl had suffered from “significant bruising to her jawline, chest, and buttocks” and bruising “from head to toe”.

They added that it looked like the toddler had been “beaten to death.”

Newsflash obtained a statement from the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office dated 14th July, saying: “On July 13, 2023, Detectives with the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division arrested Jacob Randall Robison, 23 years of age, for Homicide, Murder Dangerous or Depraved Without Premeditation, Florida Statute 782.04.2.

“On the evening of July 12th, 2023, Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive one-year-old child in the parking lot of a local store. Deputies located the mother and child, and immediately initiated CPR on the child who was not breathing.

“Wakulla County Fire Rescue responded as well, and transported the child to a local hospital where the child was pronounced deceased. While the child was being transported to the hospital, Detectives responded to the scene, as well as the hospital to investigate. Deputies and Detectives both observed injuries to the child consistent with recent physical abuse.”

The statement also said: “During the course of the investigation, it was determined Jacob Robison committed aggravated child abuse upon a one-year-old, which ultimately caused the death of the toddler. Jacob Robison is currently being held with no bond in the Wakulla County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
