Husband and wife Joseph and Kathleen Murawski are said to have raided the funds of the Old Bridge Soccer League in the US state of New Jersey to fund their lavish lifestyle.

Kathleen Murawski was the club’s former president, while Joseph Murawski was its field director.

Police say the cash disappeared on a holiday at Disney World resort in Florida, shopping binges and extravagant parties for their child.

They were only caught when they moved to Manalapan and gave up their roles at the children’s soccer league.

Officials spotted missing funds from the accounts and credit cards and called the police.

Newsflash obtained a statement from the Old Bridge Township Police Department on 10th July, saying: “The former President of the Old Bridge Soccer League, and her husband, who served as Field Director for the same league, have been arrested and charged with stealing more than USD 91,000 [GBP 70,470] from the youth organization.

“Following a comprehensive, six-month investigation, Detective Jessica Caffey of the Old Bridge Police Department, arrested and charged married couple Kathleen Murawski and Joseph Murawski with Theft of Movable Property over USD 75,000 [GBP 58,080], Conspiracy to Commit Theft and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.

“After being alerted by current OBSL officials of an issue with the league’s accounts, Detective Caffey began her investigation which included multiple subpoenas of bank and credit card records.

“It was determined that the couple made unauthorized withdrawals of money from the league’s accounts to fund personal purchases, including, but not limited to, expenses related to a trip to Walt Disney World and other travel, an extravagant party for their child, Amazon purchases and utility bills for their home.”

The statement added: “Both were remanded to the Middlesex County Correction Center.”
