Scott Pancheri, from the city of Middleton, Idaho State, USA, said he was stunned when he matched four white numbers and the Powerball on a ticket his wife had got him as a gift for his special day.
Pancheri whose age was not disclosed said in a statement obtained by Newsflash from Idaho Lottery: “It said we needed to take the ticket to the Lottery office to claim it.
“So, we tried to figure out how much we’d won. I thought it was USD 50,000 [GBP 41,112].”
Unaware of the true amount, Scott reportedly brought the ticket to lottery headquarters in the city of Boise expecting to claim USD 50,000 [GBP 41,112] on Friday, 20th October.
But he said he received the surprise of his life when lottery officials told him he had actually won USD 100,000 (GBP 82,231).
Scott said: “It’s like I won the Lottery!”

He added: “I’m not much of a gambler. My wife, though, she plays all the time.
“She loves scratch games, buys a couple of raffle tickets each year, so it was not too much of a surprise she got me a Powerball ticket with PowerPlay for my birthday.”
Scott’s wife had reportedly bought the ticket at the local Jackson’s ExtraMile convenience store.
Lottery representatives said: “With the unexpected additional winnings, Scott said his plans for the winnings include helping each of his children a little and then saving the rest.
“Happy USD 100,000 [GBP 82,231] Birthday, Scott!”
