Alfred Leon Law from the city of Danville, Virginia State, USA, revealed he bought the ‘Cash is King’ ticket at the local Glade Hill Minute Market, and he instantly began scratching it.

Alfred said in a statement obtained by Newsflash from Virginia Lottery: “I just kept looking at it!”

He continued: “I don’t normally jump up and down and holler about anything!”

Upon collecting the prize at lottery headquarters on Wednesday (30th August), Alfred revealed he plans to share the winnings with his family.

The lucky man said: “I like to see people happy.”

“Mr. Law lives in Danville, which received more than USD 8.1 million [GBP 6.6 million] in Lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year.

“In Fiscal Year 2023, the Lottery raised more than USD 867 million [GBP 708 million] for K-12 education, making up approximately 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.”
