An astonished punter has won an amazing USD 375,000 jackpot after buying his first-ever lotto scratchcard on the spur of the moment.

The winner – from the region of Pee Dee, South Carolina State, USA – beat odds of nearly a million to one to win the life-changing prize.

He said in a statement obtained by Newsflash from South Carolina Education Lottery: “It was wonderful.

“I haven’t bought a ticket since.”

The winner – who does not want to be named – bought a USD 10 (GBP 8) Mighty Jumbo Bucks ticket during a stop at the Mini Mart in the city of Florence, South Carolina.

But he ended up completely astonished when uncovered the USD 375,000 (GBP 297,821) prize under one of the ticket’s numbers.

At lottery headquarters in the city of Columbia, the winner revealed that he has no immediate spending plans with his winnings and intends to save the cash.

South Carolina Lottery officials said that the retailer will receive a commission of USD 3,750 (GBP 2,978) for selling the winning ticket.

They added that the ticket is no longer in stock, but encouraged players to explore their wide choice of available games.
