A man has been discovered alive after spending four days trapped inside his truck after it rolled down a muddy embankment and became stuck.
Robert C. Brown, 65, from Sanford, in the US state of Maine, was found by a group of people walking in the woods near River and Washington Streets in Dover, on Saturday, 16th September.
The Sanford Police Department (SPD) said in a statement obtained by Newsflash that his unnamed wife had reported that she had not seen her husband since he dropped her off at work in Rochester, New Hampshire, on Thursday, 14th September.
Investigators attempted to locate his phone, but it had run out of battery.
According to the SPD, Brown’s 2008 Ford Super Duty pickup truck appeared to have “slid down an embankment” before becoming stuck with Brown inside it.
Dover Fire Department Lieutenant Patrick Simmons said the muddy embankment showed the tracks of the vehicle, which had the truck “upright” with the driver’s side leaning downhill.
According to the SPD, first responders managed to place Brown in a stokes basket, allowing for his safe transport uphill. Subsequently, Brown was taken to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
According to Simmons, the area where Brown was found is generally not accessible to the public. He stated: “This is more like an area used for dumping dredging materials, sand, dirt, and other items by city workers and similar entities. I don’t know how he got out here.”
An investigation is being conducted into the incident.
