Victim Brandon Lee Buschman’s body was found inside the freezer on 26th June with the exterior latch shut tight.

The freezer was discovered in the basement of a derelict house in Biwabik, in the US state of Michigan.

Although the freezer was not connected to an electricity supply Busschman, 34, is thought to have either suffocated or starved to death.

There was a warrant out for his arrest and the suspect is thought to have climbed inside the freezer to hide before becoming trapped.

An autopsy revealed that there was no trauma to his body and no injuries.

The authorities are looking into whether or not he had consumed any drugs and the report is expected by August.

Gilbert Police Department said that the freezer was an older model with a latch on the outside that makes it impossible to open from the inside.

They explained said: “When closed, the freezer is not capable of being pushed open from inside.”

Police did not say what Buschman was wanted for.

The investigation is ongoing.
