A 23-year-old woman has told police in New York of the horror movie moment when she woke up in bed to find a pervert prowler lying down beside her.
The woman, who has not been named by police, was asleep in her East Village, Lower Manhattan, on 6th December when she woke up and felt someone on her bed.
Local media said the intruder fled when she started screaming and is now being hunted by police who describe him as “sexually motivated”.
New York City Police Department said: “Once inside, the individual attempted to lie down in the bed next to a 23-year-old female victim who was sleeping at the time.
“The victim was awakened by the individual, which caused him to flee the location on foot.”
Police described the suspect as: “A male with a dark complexion, 5′ 9″ tall, 170 lbs, wearing a blue hat, glasses, black hooded sweatshirt, black and white jacket, beige sweatpants, and light-colored shoes.”

Local 7-Eleven worker Bolbir Sing, 34, instantly recognised the suspect from CCTV pictures released by police.
He told local media: “He comes with a group of four or five others. Usually comes in the evening around 7 p.m. Sometimes he steals beer and candy.”
Female neighbours have been horrified by the sex prowler.
One, named only as Judith L. 26, said: “Oh my god! That’s terrifying.
“I don’t know why there are so many crazy people concentrated in this one little area.
“I’ve had packages stolen and I’ve been screamed at on the subway. I keep saying we need to move. This certainly lights a fire under it.”
Another, 20-year-old student Alex, said her dad had already changed the locks on her apartment and she always carries pepper spray.
She said: “I’m not really scared but my mom is. It’s not going to help that this happened on my block.”
And Kristen, 51, who was walking with her German Shepherd Frank said: “That’s why I have a dog.”
“Thank God she’s okay. That’s the scariest thing. Completely defenceless.
“It wouldn’t matter if you had a gun or whatever, but it doesn’t matter. Agh!”
Police are continuing the hunt for the prowler.
