Officers Scale Williamsburg Bridge to Save Suicidal New Yorker

In a daring and heroic rescue mission, members of the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit scaled the Williamsburg Bridge to save a suicidal New Yorker.

The dramatic incident was captured on bodycam video and unfolded in New York City at 5:23 p.m. on the 24th of September 2023.

Following reports from 911 callers who had spotted a man threatening to jump from atop the bridge, the officers from the Emergency Service Unit sprang into action.

Braving stormy weather conditions, they ascended the bridge, where the distressed individual was located hundreds of feet above the East River.

In an impressive display of teamwork and courage, the officers successfully reached the man and safely brought him back to ground level, averting a potential tragedy.
