USD 2 Million Winner’s Husband Thought She Was Having A Baby

A lotto winner who called her husband after scooping a USD 2 million jackpot has told how he was convinced she was trying to tell him she was pregnant.

Lucky Jacalyn Armstrong from Oak Grove, Kentucky State, USA, checked her ticket after leaving a routine gynaecologist appointment.

When she saw she was the winner, said Jacalyn, she called her husband Jonathan instantly.

But the mum-of-three explained: “I told him I had some news, and at first, he didn’t believe me.

“You could tell I was in tears, and he thought I was going to tell him I was pregnant.

“I hadn’t even told him that I bought tickets, so he was even more surprised.

“My mom thought the same thing when I called her. I was like, ‘What is wrong with you all?’.”

When Jacalyn could finally get the news out about her Powerball win, her husband Jonathan was delighted.

He said: “The Powerball news was just as exciting.”

At Kentucky Lottery headquarters, Jacalyn said she only really plays when she hears about huge jackpots.

She said: “When it gets big, my co-workers talk about it.”

Kentucky lottery representatives said Jacalyn matched five white ball numbers to win the game’s USD 1 million (GBP 819,590) second prize.

The prize doubled to USD 2 million (GBP 1.6 million) because she added the Power Play option to her tickets.

Jacalyn took home USD 1.4 million (GBP 1.1 million) on 11th October after state and federal taxes.

She said the family will give some of the prize to their church and spend the rest on a bigger home and new car.
