Police officers arrived on the scene in Evergreen Park, Illinois State, USA on 13th July, following reports of an active shooter.

They could only pronounce 21-year-old Jailene Flores dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

A swift investigation identified her alleged stalker, Armoni Henry, as the gunman. He was arrested and taken into custody a short while later.

He now stands charged with first-degree murder.

According to court documents, the pair had met in school and had also spent time working together at a nursing home in Oak Lawn.

In April this year, Jailene had applied for a restraining order against Henry, 21, after he allegedly threatened her and her family.

Three days before the crime, she had allegedly discovered an Apple AirTag tracking device inside her car.

After studying it, her brother had noticed that its phone number’s last four digits matched Henry’s phone number.

The day before the crime, Henry allegedly confronted his victim at her workplace about the device’s removal.

He allegedly threatened to harm her family if she cut him out of her life, leading to Jailene applying for another restraining order.

But the next day, she arrived at work to find 124 text messages from Henry allegedly threatening to murder her.

A short while later, Henry was caught on CCTV entering the grocery store, where, according to reports, he took her into a back room and opened fire.

He then fled the scene in a Ford Focus but was quickly tracked down by the authorities. A loaded gun was seized from him during his arrest.

According to court documents, the suspect has a history of domestic violence and a prior conviction for battery.

Jailene’s sister, Ashley Flores, wrote on an online fundraising page: “Hello, I want to start off by saying thank you for taking the time to read this, as I never imagined myself having to type out a GoFundMe for my young beautiful sister.

“My name is Ashley Flores, I am trying to raise money for my sister’s funeral arrangements and to help my family move forward with this tragic incident. Anything and everything will be appreciated.

“Unfortunately, my sister was a victim of harassment and stalking from an individual who wasn’t even her boyfriend, it was a ‘friend’ who became obsessive. This turned fatal and on July 13th at 9am he ended my sister’s life on what we thought would be another normal Thursday. I sit here still waiting for her to come home. Unfortunately my family and I must accept that Jailene is no longer with us and is in heaven watching above us all.

“With profound sadness, emptiness, and despair, we are asking for your help in the hardest moments in our lives.

“Thank you all in advance. God bless.”

At the time of writing, the fundraiser had raised USD 14,842 of its USD-30,000 target. It can be found at www.gofundme.com/f/4t3akn-jailene.
