Convicted burglar Yuri Graham Brand helped himself to a USD 1,000 (GBP 800) of food and alcohol after he broke into the home through a back door and left a mess.

Police claimed that the 39-year-old man stayed at the residence located on the 1600 block of Grand Ave, in the city of Piedmont, California State, USA, for two days while the homeowners were away.

Brand allegedly drank all the alcohol in a liquor cabinet and ate much of the food the residents had left inside the home.

He was reportedly gone when the family came back but had turned the place upside down meanwhile.

Police recognised Brand through CCTV footage and revealed he was arrested earlier on the day of the burglary after he was caught trespassing at a different home.

One of the homeowners said following the incident: “[It] makes me a little bit on guard.”

The 39-year-old offender is being held at the Santa Rita Jail without bail. He was charged with burglary and trespassing by the Alameda County District Attorney.
