A confessed killer has told police how he took his girlfriend and child on a “road trip” with his dead victim slumped in the front passenger seat.
Cops in Pennsylvania, USA, arrested cruel Justin Allen Green earlier this week over the fatal shooting of his employer.
According to reports, Green, 41, shot victim Daryl Vincent Lee twice with his 12-gauge shotgun inside the former’s pickup truck.
The two were reportedly en route to collect payment from a client of Daryl’s landscaping and lawn care business at the time.
The 44-year-old victim’s body was found next to Route 403 in East Wheatfield Township in the early hours of 14th July.
“Physical evidence” and “surveillance video” led police to question Green and his girlfriend, Brooke Ashley Pullin, about the suspected murder.
The man first claimed he had dropped Daryl home after work on 13th July. However, during a subsequent search of his car, officers found two shotgun shells and bloodstains inside.
When interrogated a second time, Green came clean, telling how he had shot his employer, killing him instantly, as they drove through Johnstown.
Harrowingly, he admitted to covering the body, which was still in the front passenger seat, with a shirt and some tools before picking up Pullin, 30, and the couple’s child.
After he told them they were going to “take a road trip to Maryland”, the three made the journey with Daryl’s corpse still slumped in the front seat.
Bafflingly, Green claimed his girlfriend had been unaware of the dead body. However, officers had already found strands of “multi-coloured” hair matching Pullin’s hair colour on Daryl’s shirt collar.
Green told officers he had thrown his shotgun into a river during the drive, with the family returning home late on 13th July.
He said he then took the car out again to dump Daryl’s body on the roadside.
Local media did not speculate on a motive for the crime. However, documents show that robbery is among the charges Green has been hit with.
He is also charged with abuse of a corpse, criminal homicide, tampering with physical evidence, false identification to law enforcement, and receiving stolen property.
Pullin, meanwhile, is charged with tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, receiving stolen property, and false identification to law enforcement.
The couple are being held on remand in Cambria County Prison and have a preliminary hearing scheduled for 2nd August.
