A lucky bloke has had trouble sleeping after he won USD 100,000 on a lottery scratchcard.
Victor Null from the area of Short Pump, in the US state of Virginia, said he could not shut an eye after he uncovered the massive prize two weeks ago.
He told how he was at a local Walmart with his young son when he suddenly saw a lottery self-service terminal and decided to buy a Cash Game instant ticket.
He was stunned when he scratched it on site and realised he had just won USD 100,000 (GBP 79,676).
But instead of loudly celebrating his prize at the store. He decided to leave the place and keep his excitement under wraps quietly.
At lottery headquarters on 1st December, Victor said he plans to use the winnings to buy a new truck and save the remainder for him and his sons.
Virginia Lottery representatives said: “Mr Null won the top prize in the Cash Game scratcher from the Virginia Lottery.
“It features prizes ranging from USD 5 [GBP 4] up to the USD 100,000 [GBP 79,676] top prize.
“This is the second top prize claimed in the game, which means one more top prize is unclaimed.
“The chances of winning the top prize are 1 in 1,387,200. The chances of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 3.91.”
They continued: “All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in Virginia.
“Mr Null lives in Buckingham County, which received more than USD 1.8 million [GBP 1.4 million] in Lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year.
“In Fiscal Year 2023, the Lottery raised more than USD 867 million [GBP 690 million] for K-12 education, making up approximately 10 per cent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.”
