A lucky woman in the USA said she burst into tears after getting a call to say she had just won a half-a-million-dollar jackpot on a lottery giveaway.
Shannon Molina, from Waterford Township, Michigan State, USA, said she was shocked when a lottery representative called her to tell her she had won USD 559,200 (GBP 432,599) on Wednesday, 14th June.
The 47-year-old woman said in a statement obtained by Newsflash from Michigan Lottery: “When I got the call that I had won the Monthly Jackpot Progressive, I thought it was a joke.
“I talked to the woman from the Lottery three times before I started to believe it was real.
“The last time I spoke to her, she setup my appointment to come claim the prize in Lansing and that’s when it hit me that it must be real.”
The lucky woman collected her prize at lottery headquarters in the city of Lansing on Tuesday, 18th July.
She revealed how she plans to use the money to pay the bills and buy a brand-new home, and save the rest.
Shannon said: “Life hasn’t always been easy. Winning means we can be debt free and get a fresh start in a new home. It’s such a blessing.”
Michigan Lottery officials said: “Select online instant games include a second chance progressive jackpot drawing.
“The Monthly Jackpot Progressive game launched in April 2022.
“Since the Monthly Jackpot Progressive games launched, players have won more than USD 3.7 million [GBP 2.8 million] in Monthly Jackpot Progressive prizes.”
