A lucky woman in the USA has scooped nearly USD 200,000 after a colleague named Jack convinced her to include the ‘Jack’ add on to her ticket because it was his name.
Shawna Foerster could not believe her eyes when she realised she had matched the add on’s numbers 01, 07, 11, 13, 36, 46, 55 and 57, to eight of the 20 numbers on her Club Keno ticket.
The 40-year-old player from the city of St. Johns, Michigan State, USA, confirmed she has her colleague Jack to thank after he advised her to try the option named ‘The Jack’.
She reportedly bought the ticket before starting her shift at the local Bruno’s Bar, at 226 North Clinton Avenue.
Shawna said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “I was about to start my shift at Bruno’s and had USD 10 [GBP 8] in my pocket, so I decided to buy a Club Keno ticket.
“As I was looking at the terminal, my co-worker, Jack, suggested I add The Jack to my ticket, so I did, and the rest is history.
“Later in my shift, I scanned the ticket on the terminal, and it printed a receipt saying I needed to claim my prize at the Lottery office.
“I figured I had won USD 1,000 [GBP 800] or so, it wasn’t until later when I downloaded the Lottery app and scanned my ticket that I realised I had won USD 197,296 [GBP 157,907]!”
At lottery headquarters on Thursday (7th September), Shawna revealed she will use the winnings to pay her daughter’s college fees, and save the rest.
She added: “Winning this prize is life-changing for my family. It means we’ll be able to save for a rainy day and not worry as much about having a cushion to fall back on.”
Michigan Lottery officials said: “The Jack is a Club Keno add-on game that players may add to their Club Keno wager for as little as USD 1 [GBP 0.8] per draw.
“With The Jack, players get eight easy pick numbers to match to the Club Keno numbers drawn.
“Players may win prizes ranging from USD 1 [GBP 0.8]to the jackpot. The jackpot starts at USD 10,000 [GBP 8,004] and grows until it is won. To win the jackpot, players must match all eight numbers.
“Club Keno may be played at the 10,500 Lottery retailers across the state. Drawings take place every three and a half minutes.
“In 2022, Lottery players won more than USD 407 million [GBP 325 million] playing Club Keno, The KICKER, The Extra, and The Jack.”
