Brave James Garcia had been at home with gran Rosa in Orange County, Florida State, USA, when he heard her crash to the floor in another room on 4th November.

Instead of panicking, James called the emergency services and talked them through what had happened until paramedics arrived at the family home.

James had told the 911 dispatcher: “I don’t know what’s happening to my grandma. I’m scared.”

Emergency worker Nicholas Wilson, the first to see James, said later: “They said there was somebody there helping grandma. I didn’t realise he was so young.”

Orange County Fire Rescue Department said in a statement obtained by Newsflash on 19th November: “Today, we proudly presented James Garcia with the Young Hero Award at station 58.

“On November 4, 2023, James was at home with his grandma, Rosa, when she experienced a medical emergency.

“James dialed 911 and calmly remained on the line with dispatch until help arrived.

“Our dispatcher and firefighters were so happy to honor James for his heroic actions at today’s reunion!”

Rosa later told local media that James is her “number one” and added: “If I loved him before, you have no idea how much I do now.”
