A woman who landed a USD 100,000 lotto win on a scratchcard has told how she scooped the fortune on a date night at the movies with her boyfriend.
Lucky Klarissa Stevens – from Raleigh, North Carolina State, USA – and her partner had gone for an after-movie soda and cashed in some old tickets on 10th June.
Then she bought a single USD 30 ticket and watched in amazement as her winnings total climbed and climbed as she scratched off the panels.
She said later: “I cried.”
Klarissa collected her prize at North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters o 15th June.
She received USD 71,359 (GBP 55,696) following state and federal taxes.
She revealed she will use the money to pay bills and buy a new car, and save the rest.
Klarissa said: “We won’t be a single-car household anymore!”
Lottery officials added: “The USD 5 million [GBP 3.9 million] Ultimate game launched in March with five USD 5 million [GBP 3.9 million] top prizes and 15 USD 100,000 [GBP 78,039].
“Four USD 5 million [GBP 3.9 million] top prizes and 100,000 [GBP 78,039] remain to be won.”
