Two children are dead and two others are in hospital after their abusive father slashed them with a blade.
The father, named as Prospero Serna, of San Bernardino, in the US state of California, has been arrested and charged with murder and child abuse, following the incident in the city of Lancaster, just outside Los Angeles, on Saturday, 28th October, according to local media.
Police officers responded to a call to the apartment in the 1800 block of East Avenue J-2 after they received a 911 call from the children’s mother shortly before midnight.
She told officers that her kids were being attacked and after arriving on the scene, police found the four children, all unnamed but all under the age of 10, “suffering from lacerations to their bodies”.
They were taken to hospital but two were pronounced dead on arrival.
The other two are said to be in stable condition.
The police arrested Serna, who had blood on his clothes, pinning him to the ground after using pepper spray and a taser on him.
The police said the scene was “extremely difficult”.
Sheriff’s Lt. Daniel Vizcarra told local media: “It was traumatic for everyone involved.”
He added; “They are children and truly innocent victims who don’t deserve anything like this.”
There is currently no motive for the attack.
The police investigation is ongoing.
