An 80-year-old Brazilian woman was killed before being dismembered and stuffed into five suitcases in Florida by her husband, according to the police.
The police reportedly found blood stains in the husband’s house in the city of Delray Beach, a city in the US state of Florida.
They named the victim as Brazilian national Aydil Barbosa Fontes, 80, on Thursday, 3rd August, saying she was shot in the head.
The revelation comes after they retrieved parts of her body from a sea channel at the end of July.
Her husband, William Lowe, 78, has been arrested and charged with murder.
Police searched his apartment and found bloodstains in the living room, dining room, entryway, two bathrooms and the master bedroom.
Neighbours said they had not seen Aydil in the days leading up to when the five suitcases were found.
Investigators say that the Brazilian was murdered between 17th and 20th July.
The remains were originally found by a construction worker, with the police identifying the suspect as William Lowe after witnesses spoke of a car that had been appearing near the canal frequently.
The police identified the licence plates and arrested Lowe.
When he was first questioned, the suspect said that his wife was in Brazil, but after police searched his home they found bloodstains and a chainsaw.
The investigation is ongoing.
