Woman’s Home Burns Down Same Day She Has Motorcycle Crash That Lead To Cancer Being Found

A woman in the USA may had luck after crashing her motorbike when rushing home because her house was on fire, as doctors who treated her discovered she had cancer and they have now started to treat it.

Wendy Hansen, 47, from the city of Mitchelleville, Iowa State, USA, was reportedly riding her motorcycle when she received a call that her house was on fire on Sunday afternoon, 2nd July.

But while making a U-turn and rushing straight home, Wendy reportedly crashed her motorcycle in an accident that left her with multiple broken bones and many bumps and bruises.

She said: “I ended up hitting a culvert or something. Or a rut in the tall grass.”

But once an ambulance took her to the hospital, the day got worse after CT scans revealed she had kidney cancer.

The 47-year-old woman said: “They found cancer that I didn’t know I had.”

But the good news is that doctors have been able to start treating the disease immediately.

Wendy told how her mother was also given a cancer diagnosis at the age of 48, and died four years later at the age of 52.

Wendy said that she will probably need to have one of her kidney’s removed soon, but agreed that the series of events may have saved her life.

She said: “[The doctor] said the motorcycle crash was a blessing. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known [the cancer] was there.”

Media reported that Hansen and her fiancee Russell Farnsworth had lost six pets in the fire that burnt their home to the ground.

Despite one of the pets – a 13-year-old schnauzer named Axel – having survived the fire at first, the pooch had to be put to sleep later due to its severe injuries.

Meanwhile, a friend of the couple organised a GoFundMe campaign to help them cover their bills and get back on their feet. They are currently staying with relatives.

The fundraiser said: “Due to these detrimental events happening within 24 hours, Russ and Wendy are asking for anyone that can help, to please consider donating towards the current and future medical bills of Wendy and Axel.

“This money would also help them find a place to stay in the meantime while figuring out the details and condition of their home.

“The family thanks everyone for their help during this stressful time.”
