A lucky man in the USA made history when he scooped the lottery’s largest-ever keno jackpot just years after he pocketed another major prize.
Dan Housler, 62, netted a total of USD 503,254 (GBP 396,481) playing Michigan Lottery’s big Club Keno The Jack game when he matched lucky numbers 8, 39, 48, 51, 65, 66, 70, 71, earlier this month.
The lucky lad from Portage, Michigan State, USA, said the amazing win followed after he previously scooped USD 239,074 (GBP 188,179) playing the same game several years ago.
Dan said in a statement obtained by Newsflash from Michigan Lottery: “I play Club Keno The Jack when the prize gets to around USD 100,000 [GBP 78,763].
“I have been lucky in the past and won a USD 239,074 [GBP 188,179] prize a few years ago!”
The 62-year-old man reportedly broke the game’s previous record of USD 463,361 (GBP 364,855) that was set at Red’s Sports Bar and Grill in the village of Middleville in October 2020.
Dan who had bought several tickets in the city of Kalamazoo prior to the drawing, said: “I bought my ticket and went home from Fletcher’s.
“When I got there, I checked my wife’s tickets and mine. On my third ticket, the confetti flew on the app screen and the prize appeared on the screen.
“I was so surprised. I’ve never seen this much money at once in my life!”
When collecting his prize at lottery headquarters on Thursday (10th August), Dan revealed that he plans to use the prize to invest in his retirement.
He said: “Winning this at my age means I can pay some bills and set myself up for a comfortable retirement.”
Lottery officials said: “The Jack is a Club Keno add-on game that players may add to their Club Keno wager for as little as USD 1 [GBP 0.8] per draw.
“With The Jack, players get eight easy pick numbers to match to the Club Keno numbers drawn.
“Players may win prizes ranging from USD 1 [GBP 0.8] to the jackpot.
“The jackpot starts at USD 10,000 [GBP 7,876] and grows until it is won. To win the jackpot, players must match all eight numbers.
“In 2022, Lottery players won more than USD 407 million [GBP 320 million] playing Club Keno, The KICKER, The Extra, and The Jack.”
