Lucky Woman Says She Cried After USD 723,755 Lottery Jackpot Win

A lottery winner cried all the way home when she found she was the lucky person that had won a USD 723,755 jackpot.

Footage of the lucky winner Cynthia Neely, of Gold Hill, in the US state of North Carolina, shows her holding up the massive cheque for USD 723,755 (GBP 563,066) and saying: “I cried.”

Newsflash obtained the footage and a statement from the North Carolina Lottery on Monday, 24th July, saying: “Neely bought her lucky Jackpot 7’s ticket July 11 from the Kangaroo Express on East Main Street in Rockwell. When she checked her tickets, she initially thought someone else won the jackpot instead of her.”

Cynthia said: “When I got in the truck and saw my first ticket said the jackpot was back to USD 20,000 [GBP 15,561], I thought, ‘Oh darn, somebody already won the jackpot’.”

In the video, Cynthia says: “I thought someone bought the winning ticket right at the same time I was buying my ticket.”

And even after closely checking her tickets, purchased for just USD 10 (GBP 7.78), she said she “still couldn’t believe it!”

Cynthia said: “That’s when I logged into the lottery app and scanned it. I actually started crying on the way home, because it is life-changing!”

She added: “I think I cried all the way home.”

Lottery officials said that after state and federal taxes, Cynthia took home USD 515,678 (GBP 401,279).

Simply said: “I’m going to try to talk my husband into retiring soon.”

The statement also said that Neely said she plans to “give some money to her church, invest, and possibly take a trip with her husband.”
