A cigarette thief got his comeuppance when a worker from the store he had just robbed grabbed him while a colleague gave him a vicious thrashing with a stick.

The video of the attempted robbery at the Sikh-owned 7-Eleven convenience store in California, USA, recently went viral on social media.
The footage, filmed from over the counter, shows how the store thief tosses several packets of cigarettes from their display into a large wheelie bin.
As he carries out the brazen theft, he repeatedly threatens a worker with a concealed weapon in his back pocket while barking at him to “back up”.
The person behind the camera can be heard saying: “Hey, just let him go. There ain’t nothing you can do. They’re not gonna do nothing.”
He then asks the workers: “Do you have insurance?”
However, as the thief tries to leave the store with his loot, one of the workers grabs him by the arms and pulls him to the ground.
Meanwhile, his colleague, who has grabbed a wooden stick off-camera, repeatedly strikes the man with the heavy object on the legs and bum as he yells in pain.

In a change of tune, the person filming can be heard saying: “That’s called whooping yo ass!”
The video had been watched more than 22 million times at the time of writing after being shared only yesterday (2nd August).
One netizen commented: “Amazing. 100% deserved.”
Another remarked: “That stick was all the insurance they needed.”
The crook’s identity is unclear.
