A woman in the USA has murdered her daughter and son inside a mobile home before fatally shooting herself after losing custody of her young son to his father.

Brandy Hutchins from the city of Lake Wales, Polk County, Florida State, USA, reportedly killed her 10-year-old son Aiden Hutchins and her 19-year-old daughter before turning the gun on herself on Sunday afternoon, 27th August.

The incident reportedly happened in the family’s mobile home, after the 43-year-old woman was ordered to turn her son over to his father in Maine State, USA.

Hutchins was supposed to hand over the custody of her son by 6pm on Friday, 25th August, but reportedly never showed up for the meeting, claimed the Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

When investigators learnt the appointment never took place, they began looking for the boy so that they could take him back to his father.

But since the 10-year-old child was nowhere to be found, the detectives pinged phones, while friends asked people who had seen him to step forward.

Meanwhile, Aiden’s dad shared several images online asking for help on Sunday afternoon, 26th August.

But at around 12.30 the same day, cops got a call saying Hutchins and the children were inside a camper in the Waverly neighbourhood.

Soon after they found the child’s lifeless body next to his mother’s and half-sister’s.

Judd said in a press conference on Sunday: “Brandy Hutchins… from every indication in our investigation now has murdered her 10-year-old child and her 19-year-old child – murdered them and then subsequent to that, she shot herself.

“I can’t imagine a more horrific set of circumstances.”

The sheriff explained that Hutchins had no criminal history, and added: “There was no indication that there should be any violence.”

Judd added that the teenage girl had a different father and was not a part of the custody dispute.

Aiden’s dad said in a Facebook post: “It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this to give everyone an update about my son Aiden Hutchins who was missing and taken by his mother on 25th August, 2023, who decided to murder him.

“He was killed by her today, 27th August, 2023. He will forever be in my heart and did not deserve this.

“Rest in peace my sweet boy I will see you again. I love you.”

Explaining that the sheriff’s office rarely ever sees such violence, despite handing hundreds of thousands of court orders, Judd added: “My heart breaks for all of the family.

“We’re devastated for this beautiful 10-year-old child – all because mom did not want to turn the child over to the rightful father pursuant to a court order.”
