Police believe victim Logan Michael Halstead, 19, had been in the old freezer in the back garden since late August 2023.

His gruesomely decomposed remains were discovered after the property’s new owners moved in at 296 Bradford Drive in the city of Headland, Alabama State, USA.

After the horrific discovery, they called the cops who rushed to the site, and found the teenager stuffed in the freezer at around 11.37am on Sunday, 29th October.

His parents Michael Shane Halstead, 44, and Karen Tysinger Halstead, 43, were arrested and detained when police tracked them down to their new home 50 miles away in the city of Jack.

After police questioned them, they were both charged with one count of abusing a corpse and were remanded in custody at Henry County Jail.

Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “This incident is a very tragic situation and our agency is committed to finding out the truth.”

He added: “The investigation is still ongoing and information will continue to be released as the case progresses.

“The body of the deceased has been transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an official autopsy.”

The Halsteads had reportedly been renting the house before they moved away without paying rent after August 2023.

Their landlord then sold the home to its current owners who found Logan’s remains while cleaning the property

Sheriff Blankenship said: “I would like to personally thank the Headland Police Department, Dothan Police Department, and Alabama State Troopers for their assistance in the investigation.”
